I know from speaking to a lot of our customers that you are in a very important stage right now of your digital transformation at E.ON, something much further ahead than most customers that I see. Your data team has been kind of the front and center of this. Can you just give me a little bit more about that digital transformation and what it means for your company?
A couple of years ago, we understood that the future of energy needs to be decarbonize, decentral, but also digital. For us, digital is one of the three cornerstones of our transformation. And there's no digital without data.
It's true.
And there's no data without the proper data management [INAUDIBLE] in place. That's why we put data on the forefront of all the digital transformation. That's what's taking us to this particular moment.
Nice. And what's your team and your team's priorities behind that? So how do they help drive that digital transformation across E.ON?
First of all, digital transformation is very abstract. So you need to learn it.
Yes.
You need to kind of interpret it for your company. In our case, digital was about to unlock our value pools in a way that we couldn't do it before. People think digital is about technology. It is by no means about technology only. You need to change the way you operate. And part of this change is the way you deal with [INAUDIBLE] of your digital life, which is data.
Yeah.
So that's where my team is playing a huge role here.
Absolutely. So I've seen it. Your team is a first-class team. And their ability to execute by themselves in their own individual roles is hard enough, but how do you have the executive level team [INAUDIBLE], right? So I've seen it, and I've been very impressed with it. From board level on down, everybody dedicated to getting this right, getting this data transformation completed. How do you do that? How do you keep that from an organization standpoint?
You need to have the right mindset. And the right mindset needs to kind of start by the top, so our board. As we have a particular board member supporting us a lot, I'm very much engaged, particularly with the AI topics, which really is giving us wings to fly. But it's not enough.
Having digital, the top-down [INAUDIBLE] we need to go bottom-up, and we need to convince each and every employee of E.ON that the future is about applying new technologies, which requires applying, kind of dealing with the data in a different way.
And for that, we are running the so-called evangelization program, which consists of first-floor showing, what you can do with data. The second is bringing data closer to people, how to do that. Machine learning is difficult, because at the end, it's an algorithm, and you cannot just touch the algorithm.
Yeah.
But we have kind of ideas like bring your own data, where you take kind of the data sets. We use two slide Tableau, Power BI, but for the first time people can interact with the data they've been carrying for years. And believe me, it's a game-changer.
Oh, yeah.
Not only that, it's like when you just suspect that people engage with data, it's really important to give them the opportunity to learn and to skill them up with it. And the more they learn, the more they engage, the easier it is for you to kind of implement this transformation.
